Coaching

Coaches help to attract and keep participants in our sport, and without them badminton simply wouldn’t exist. This page covers everything you need to know to be a qualified and registered badminton coach in Australia.

Coach Registration & Professional Indemnity Insurance

Badminton coaches who are actively coaching in Australia within any affiliated programs (including schools), venues and organisations must be registered. Without a valid registration, coaches cannot attend courses, are not covered under the BA policies including the National Integrity Framework, will not be able to coach at national events and are not covered for professional liability insurance. Insurance does not cover private coaching.

To be eligible to register, you must meet the following requirements:

Please contact integrity@badminton.org.au for related enquiries.

Registration is renewed each year at the below cost:

Adult – $49.00

Concession – $39.20*

Under 18 – $29.40*

*Eligible concessions include seniors card, healthcare card, student card and teachers ID. Discount codes will be provided on the form.

The Coaching Pathway & Courses

If you are new to badminton coaching, this PATHWAY OVERVIEW will help you understand where to start and how to progress. Badminton Australia’s e-learning platform is etrainu.

Courses are organised by states and territories. Submit your interest in completing a coaching qualification via the link above and someone will be in touch with options.

Integrity Education

Education is key to protecting the integrity of Australian sport. Sport Integrity Australia (SIA) and Badminton Australia are committed to working together to mitigate and manage integrity threats to provide a safe and fair environment for participants at all levels of sport.

This Education Plan has been developed in partnership with SIA, who will support this plan through the provision of education resources and interventions as and where possible. It outlines the required and recommended education interventions for badminton coaches in Australia to facilitate compliance with the National Integrity Framework policies, Badminton Australia Anti-Doping Policy and the World Anti-Doping Code International Standard for Education (ISE).
