New Coaching Appointment For Badminton Australia And Badminton Victoria

Badminton Australia and Badminton Victoria are delighted to announce that Vountus Indra Mawan Saniru has been appointed to the position of National Assistant Head Coach for Badminton Australia and Head Coach for Badminton Victoria. This position is jointly funded by Badminton Australia through funding received from the Australian Institute of Sport and Badminton Victoria.

Vountus has represented Malaysia, one of the world’s leading Badminton countries, on the world tour as a professional badminton player and most recently was one of the leading coaches with the Malaysian national badminton program.

This appointment aligns with the strategic direction and funding provided by the Australian Institute of Sport for player development focused on those that have the best chance for podium success at the 2028 Los Angeles and 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games. It also provides an opportunity for Badminton Victoria to employ a coach to develop Victoria’s most talented badminton players.

Vountus brings a wealth of technical expertise to support BA National Head Coach Leanne Choo and players as part of the Australian and Victorian player development programs.

Australia’s national Head Coach Leanne Choo said “We are delighted to have someone of Vountus’ calibre in Australia on a permanent basis to develop our players.”

Badminton Victoria Executive General Manager TJ Weistra said “To have someone with the experience and technical capability to lead our program is a wonderful chance for our players in Victoria to grow and develop as we continue to strengthen our overall performance program.”

Vountus will commence in his role immediately.
