At the recent 2024 Badminton Australia Annual General Meeting, an updated Constitution was passed.
The new Constitution aligns with the Australian Sports Commission’s Sport Governance Principles, Sport Integrity Australia’s National Integrity Framework Policies and the National Gender Equity in Sports Governance Policy.
It also provides for a new Vice President role and greater alignment with Badminton Australia’s committees, offering further structure to the governance of Badminton Australia led by the Board.
Earlier this year, Badminton Australia commenced the independent review of its Constitution to ensure it was in line with up-to-date governance standards and policies required of national sporting organisations.
The updated Constitution builds on the progress Badminton Australia has made to its governance in recent years, including new sport integrity policies, a refreshed structure of committees and the appointment of two new Board members to bring relevant diversity and experience to continue driving the organisation forward.
“The updated Constitution ensures Badminton Australia is well placed to drive the future direction and growth of badminton in Australia, with the finalisation of a new Strategic Plan for 2025+ to be released shortly.” – Badminton Australia President, Julie McDonald
