Badminton Australia, working in consultation with the State & Territory Badminton organisations, would like to announce that the national events to be held in December 2021, being the YONEX Australian Bendigo Invitational & Victorian Open (YABIVO) and that the YONEX Australian Combined National Championships (YACNC) and 2021 National Para Championships will not run as planned due to the ongoing COVID-19 State Border restrictions in place.
Badminton Victoria will be running replacement events being the Victorian Open, Para and U17 Championships on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of December, and a U19 and U15 event on the 11th and 12th of December. Any player across Australia is welcome to attend these events.
Badminton Australia CEO Jamie Parsons said “With only 3 States and Territories being able to attend the national events it was not viable to run these events in December 2021. We are disappointed that we cannot run these events but are thankful that Badminton Victoria will run replacement events that are open to anyone around Australia to participate in”.
Any players who have entered for the YABIVO and YACNC will receive a full refund of their entry fees. Badminton Australia will be running a Falcons National Senior Camp and a Falcons National Junior Camp for those players who can attend around the Victorian events. Further details will be provided shortly to players who are eligible to attend these camps.
