It took just over an hour for Renuga Veeran and Rosy Tang to win a thrilling three game final over Matsuo and Naito of Japan at the Sky City New Zealand Open in Auckland today. The win is the first Grand Prix title for the pair who also won the Wales International Challenge last December.

Tang and Veeran started the match perfectly and raced to a 10-6 lead, dominating the Japanese duo with both power and deception from the back of the court and comfortably taking the opening game 21-13.

Things started a little differently in the second game as Matsuo and Naito were the one's controlling match, with Veeran and Tang make several uncharacteristic errors. The Japanese made the most of these errors to win the game 10-21, the match would go into a decider.

Once again the momentum in the match flipped 180 degrees as the Aussies got the jump in the third game and looked set for a comfortable win when they led 17-10 in the decider. However the Japanese were not finished yet, fighting their way back to level the scores at 18-18, but that is where there fight back ended, with the Australian's winning 21-18.
