Written by  Tuesday, 28 August 2012 13:52

After strong performances in the semi-finals yesterday, NSW Thunder and Victoria will do battle in the final for the Ede Clendinnen Sheild.

NSW Thunder made light work of WA with a 10-3 win in their semi-final. The win was set up by a dominant performance in the singles, with NSW claiming 5 of the 6 matches. WA showed some indications of a comeback by taking the first women’s doubles, however the tie was quickly closed out by NSW when they won the remaining doubles matches to take an unbeatable 8-2 lead going into the mixed doubles.

Victoria was equally as impressive on the other side of the draw, putting in a strong performance to defeat Queensland 11-2. As in the first semi-final it was the singles matches that set up the tie for Victoria who raced to a 5-1 lead. From there Queensland could manage just one more match for the tie.

The final will be played at 2pm AEST today. With the playoffs for the minor placing also taking place at the same time. Click here for full results.
