Following on from an intense two week training camp in Melbourne it was looking like the Aussie badminton team would have the perfect preparation for the Olympic Games with a final week long training camp on British soil in Derby. However a bout of suspected food poisoning has swept through team with three players, one official and two locally based liaison officers being struck down with illness. Government Health Officials are currently investigating the cause of the sickness.

All affected are expected to fully recover before scheduled exhibition matches against the Canadian Olympic Team and Great Britain All-Stars later in the week. The all-stars team includes 2004 Olympic Silver Medalists Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms.

Following the exhibition matches the players will travel back to London to join the rest of the Australian Olympic Team in the games village.
