Warfe and Choo move into Olympic Qualifying Contention

With just one more week before the deadline for Olympic Qualifications Australia looks set to qualify in all events except the men's singles according to the latest dummy list produced by Badzine after Glenn Warfe and Leanne Choo moved into the top 50 with a semi-final result in Tahiti last week.

The unofficial dummy lists produced by badminton website Badzine take into account only those tournaments completed during the qualifying period. By being inside the top 50 Warfe and Choo will qualify by way of a continental confederation spot, the problem with this being that one country may claim a maximum of 2 Olympic Games spots by way of Continental Confederation Qualification.

Warfe is also holding a continental qualification spot for Men's Doubles with Ross Smith and Choo and Women's doubles spot with Renuga Veeran. The decision on which two events will accept the position will fall with Badminton Australia and the Australian Olympic Committee.

Meanwhile Victoria Na is holding onto her spot in the women's singles, and as she looks set qualify outright she does not have to worry about fighting with her fellow Australians for an Olympic birth.
