Whyte Trophy

The Whyte Trophy was donated in 1983 by the late Mr D O Whyte, a former member of the NZ Badminton Federation Management Committee (Badminton New Zealand), and the late Mrs Whyte, for tests between New Zealand and Australia.

The series is played every two years, with the venue alternating between New Zealand and Australia. Prior to 1983 each contest was generally one test of 16 matches, played over two days.

Since 1985 each contest has consisted of three tests each of five matches which are men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and one mixed doubles match.

There have been 32 contests for the Whyte Trophy, of which Australia and New Zealand have one 16 times each.
